The Artist

I have been creating art since I was a small child.  By the age of 10, I had my own sewing machine and by high school I was making my own prom dresses.

I have designed and created cowboy shirts with fabulous hand-embroidered work, matching clothing for bands, accessories for women ranging from hats with silk-embroidered gardens on them to handbags and belts.   Designing jewelry has always been a passion of mine, while my art interests have continued to grow and change over time.

Throughout the years, my fascination working with beads has increased.  Many years ago, while raising my two wonderful sons and working full time, I would steal many hours from sleep to work on my beaded jewelry. When people would ask, “What do you do?”  I would reply, “I spend a lot of time sewing tiny pieces of glass and rocks together!”

Most recently, my passion had been engrossed in creating mosaic work using china as my medium. I worked totally on recycled items found in yard sales and thrift stores.  Items no one else wanted took on a new life once I got my hands and tools on them.

Now, I am making a dream come true by creating juzu beads.  Since 1990, when I first began practicing Nichiren Buddhism, I have been fascinated with our juzu beads.  From the first time I held juzu beads, I formed a romantic attachment to them.  The differently shaped beads, the way we hold them, our careful ways of carrying them, the entire ritual fascinated me.  I have dreamed of designing them using fine gemstones and fabulous glass beads.  Now I am doing just that!

When you practice this Buddhism, there are no limits on your life except the ones you put on it.  Everything is possible!  Nichiren Buddhism is intended to bring happiness, peace and joy into your life, as it has brought into mine.  All the “I can’t, I’m not, and it won’t” in your mind MUST be replaced with “I CAN, I AM, IT WILL!!”  And then your life will be on the path to success in every direction!”  Never forget this!  We are people of UNLIMITED SELF-ESTEEM that can make the IMPOSSIBLE…POSSIBLE and NEVER be DEFEATED!!!

It is my intention to offer SGI members, my Myoho Brothers and Sisters in faith, high-quality, long-lasting juzu beads that express who you are, in color and beads.  Options!  I am offering you options and hope your selection keeps you at your altar longer……..chanting!!
